Residents warned of fraudsters posing as council pest control officers

Havant Borough Council has been made aware that persons, claiming to be from the council, are offering pest control services.

Residents have been contacted both in person and by telephone being quoted substantial amounts of money to deal with issues involving rats and other pests.

Havant Borough Council does NOT undertake any kind of residential door-to-door or cold calling offering services such as this.

If you receive a visit from someone claiming to be from Havant Borough Council you should:

  • Ask to see the persons ID - all staff from Havant Borough Council carry an ID badge with their name, job title and the council’s logo on it and details on the back of the card should you wish to confirm the identity of the person. 
  • Not invite anyone into your home without being certain of their identification
  • Not agree to any services that you are uncertain about or have not requested
  • Notify Havant Borough Council on 023 9244 6019, Hampshire County Council, Trading Standards and the police.
