The Public Service Plaza is home to a partnership of councils and community organisations but today (Tuesday 26th March 2013) saw the state-of-the-art building playing host to an entirely different kind of partnership as it held its first wedding.
Following a major refit The Plaza is now home to public services provided by Havant Borough Council, Hampshire County Council, the CAB, Capita and others. But it was a private union that took centre stage as a couple became the first to be married in the building’s fantastic event suites Today’s wedding took place in the Newlease Room, one of the four modern, flexible and fully-equipped rooms perfect for any occasion whether social or professional.
Havant Borough Council’s Chief Executive, Sandy Hopkins, who presented the happy couple with a bottle of Champagne after the ceremony, said: “Our facilities here are ideal for anyone who wants to host conferences, AGMs, meetings, exhibitions, launches or, as we saw today, weddings.
“This demonstrates the value to the community of having such a flexible and modern building and I am sure that this is the first of many happy occasions to be held here.”
The rooms can be booked separately or together as a comprehensive events suite, allowing for occasions of any size. On arrival, guests can congregate in the spectacular atrium with comfortable seating, free wi-fi internet access and café. The café is open from 8.30am to 3.30pm Monday to Friday and some evenings for meetings and events.
