Charities and community groups registered with the Havant Community Lottery are set to benefit as tickets go on sale ahead of the first draw on Saturday 7 April.
From Tuesday 13 March, supporters can purchase tickets online or over the phone, choosing which good cause they wish to support.
The Mayor of Havant, Councillor Elaine Shimbart; the Cabinet Lead for Communities and Housing, Councillor Leah Turner; and local TV personality Fred Dinenage will be joined by many of the registered good causes at the Plaza to celebrate this key milestone for the new Lottery.
Residents can support their local good causes by purchasing lottery tickets via the Havant Community Lottery website at www.havantlottery.co.uk or by calling 023 9319 0011.
Charities and community groups from across the borough are already registered on the lottery website. Supporters can view a full list of these when choosing who they would like to contribute to.
50p from every pound spent will be received by the supported good cause and a further 10p will go into a central Community Pot. This means a total of 60p from every pound directly supports good causes.
Local charities and community groups are still able to register to become a good cause ahead of the first draw by visiting www.havantlottery.co.uk/good-causes.
Councillor Leah Turner, Cabinet Lead for Communities and Housing, said: “We at Havant Borough Council are very pleased that by launching the Havant Community Lottery, we are supporting local charities and good causes helping Havant residents.
“Please buy a ticket to support local causes, with a chance of winning a prize as well.”
