Goals galore!

Friday, 9 November, 2018

Football will continue later into the winter season at Front Lawn Recreation Ground, Leigh Park, after funding was secured for two new football goals.

The pair of roll-on roll-off goals costing £1,058 have been funded by Havant and Waterlooville Youth FC and a Football Foundation grant awarded to Havant Borough Council.

The new goals will help keep the grass pitches in good condition by allowing the club to rotate and change its pitches more frequently than traditional socketed goals. This will mean the club can play later into the winter as the temperature drops.

Councillor Leah Turner, Cabinet Lead for Communities, Development and Housing, said: “The new equipment will greatly benefit Havant and Waterlooville Youth FC and will ensure the club can offer more football in the heart of the Leigh Park community.”

Front Lawn Recreation Ground is the historic home of Havant and Waterlooville Youth FC. The club, based in Leigh Park, has been established for more than half a century and has many teams from ages U7 to U18.
