Come along to Stockheath Common, Leigh Park on Sunday 5 November to enjoy this year’s fabulous free fireworks and whopping bonfire.
Lighting the fire at 7.30pm will be The Mayor of Havant, Councillor Elaine Shimbart with the FREE firework display starting at approximately 7.45pm.
The event will be a celebration marking twenty years in the history of how the event has been organised by Havant Borough Council.
Children’s rides and side stalls selling food and drink will also add to the enjoyment of the evening.
Stockheath Lane and Alresford Road will be closed to traffic from 4pm to enable the event to be set up. Riders Lane will be closed from 5pm, and parking will not be permitted. Visitors arriving by car should use the Havant Borough Council car parks at Greywell – the car parks are a five minute walk from the event, and parking in them will be FREE on that evening from 6pm.
A newly formed ‘Friends of Stockheath Common fireworks’ community group, being supported by Havant Borough Council, is inviting local residents and businesses to join them to enable the display to continue for future generations.
The group are keen for the event to become a community led project event for Leigh Park and have set up a Facebook and JustGiving page to alight their proposal for a safe, secure and spectacular event for residents to enjoy.
Councillor Leah Turner, Cabinet Lead for Communities and Housing said “This highly professional display is a family occasion usually attended by more than 6,000 people. To ensure the event is safe for all we would like to remind anyone who will be attending not to bring their own fireworks and that this is a no alcohol event.
We are looking forward to supporting the newly formed "Friends of Stockheath Common Fireworks Community Group” who are hoping to take the event forward in future years.
Anyone wishing to support the group can follow them on Facebook at Friends of Stockheath common Fireworks or by their JustGiving page at https://tinyurl.com/ycs4ezbo
