A Wellbeing Centre offering invaluable mental health support has launched today, thanks to close partnership working between Havant Borough Council, the Meridian Shopping Centre and Havant & East Hants Mind.

Situated on the first floor of the Meridian Shopping Centre in the heart of Havant town centre, the new facility provides residents with easy access to the many services that Havant & East Hants Mind offers. £50,000 from Community Infrastructure Levy funding was provided by Havant Borough Council to fund the fitting-out of the Wellbeing Centre. The Havant Borough Community Lottery – established by Havant Borough Council in 2018 – also provided £2,000 of funding to the project, which paid for essential items such as tables and chairs to equip the Wellbeing Centre.

An independent local charity, Havant & East Hants Mind supports people with poor mental health to live well, and actively strives to help people maintain positive mental health, especially through difficult times. They also actively campaign to raise awareness and to address misconceptions and stigma about mental health.

Formally opened by the Mayor of Havant Rosy Raines, the launch event brought together the many people and organisations who helped this project reach fruition.

In attendance at the event, Councillor Gwen Robinson said "The launch of the Wellbeing Centre deserves celebration - not just for the tremendous range of services it makes readily available to residents concerned about their mental health - but also for how it shows true partnerships can deliver the most impressive of results."

Ross Borman (Director of Business Development for Havant & East Hants Mind) said "We are delighted to open the new Wellbeing Centre in Havant, which will become a hub for enquiries, conversations and support around mental health services, fundraising and volunteering. We are thankful for all the collaborations and support that have helped to facilitate this new welcoming space, including the Community Infrastructure Levy and the Havant Borough Community Lottery. We look forward to welcoming service users, supporters, volunteers, fundraisers and visitors to our new Wellbeing Centre, and increasing the accessibility of our local free to access services."
