Improving physical and mental health with Wellbeing Walks

In addition to Get Up and Go walks, Havant Borough Council also organises a Wellbeing Walks scheme, helping residents stay active and improve their physical and mental health.

Wellbeing Walks vary from 10 - 90 minutes maximum, and most walks have shorter options available. They are hosted by the Ramblers and are led by experienced volunteer walk leaders. Some of these walks have been going for 20 years!

There are currently five walks in the Havant borough, but there are hopes of expanding this to include other options such as: buggy walks, family walks, history walks, nature inspired walks, and women and men only walks.

Current walk locations and days include:

  • Denmead - Mondays (weekly)
  • Havant - Tuesdays (monthly)
  • Emsworth - Wednesdays (weekly). This moves about each week.
  • Hayling Island - Thursdays (weekly)
  • North Hayling - Fridays (monthly)

To find a local walk, visit the Wellbeing walks page and search using your postcode.

The scheme currently has more than 10,000 volunteer walk leaders but is always on the lookout for new people to volunteer! Training is free, and includes an online module, followed by three hours of in-person training.
