The UK Government has introduced a requirement for voters to show photographic ID when voting at a polling station for the first time in England.

Valid forms of voter ID include a passport, driver’s licence and some concessionary travel passes. Voters will be able to use expired ID if they are still recognisable from the photo. Photo ID shown MUST be an original document – copies or images on mobile phones will not be accepted. Find out what is an acceptable form of voter ID here.

No ID? No problem

You can apply online for a Voter Authority Certificate if you do not have any suitable form of photographic ID. You must be registered to vote before applying for your ID here.

We can also help, just pop along to the Public Service Plaza with your National Insurance number, and we will take your photo and go through the application process with you.

The deadline to apply for a certificate is 5pm on Tuesday 25 April.
