Havant Wellbeing Partnership
The Havant Older Peoples Wellbeing Partnership has been active
in the Borough for several years and is continually growing and
changing. The Partnership formed in 2007, after the
Havant 50+ Forum led a number of events giving older people
the chance to have their say on issues which were important to
them. In 2011, The Partnership continues to address these
issues and to help older people retain their independence and lead
happy healthy lives.
The 7 priorities identified for Havant are;
- Housing &
Home
-
Neighbourhood
- Social Networks
& Keeping Busy
- Getting Out
& About
- Income
-
Information
- Health &
Healthy Living
Campaign for 2011 - "Being
Independent in Later Life" - meet B.I.L.L!
One issue repeatedly raised by
older people is the how difficult it can be to access
information about different services and support available. To
help tackle this, the Partnership have planned a series of events
across the borough to meet older people, their friends, families
and carers. On the third Thursday of each month from April to
October, staff and volunteers from different agencies will
be on hand at places near you, ready to answer questions
and offer information.

What have we achieved so far?
One issue consistently raised by older people is the difficulty
they have in accessing information and finding out about the
services are available to them. To tackle this, throughout 2009
& 2010 we arranged a number of Wellbeing Roadshows in local
communtiy centres. Local agencies came out and met with our
residents, and were on hand with leaflets and available to
answer questions. The success of these was varied, and we have
taken what we learnt to develop our latest campaign for 2011 - the
Being Independant in Later Life Campaign - B.I.L.L!
The Partnership originally developed an Action
Plan based on the results of consultation events. This highlights
the seven priorities for older people in the Borough. More
recent consultation during 2010 confirms these priorites are still
the right ones for us to be focusing on. We will be renewing
the action plan in due course, in line with the wider Hampshire
Strategy refresh currently ongoing.
