FREE healthy living workshops for overweight youngsters
Havant Borough Council is offering 15 free places to overweight
youngsters and their families wanting to lead fitter, healthier and
happier lives on a 10-week healthy living programme run in
partnership with MEND (Mind, Exercise, Nutrition…Do it!)
The programme aims to change seven to 13 year olds attitudes
towards food and fitness and bring about lifestyle changes by
educating the young people and their families in a fun and friendly
environment. The course – which is run by specially trained health
and fitness professionals – starts twice weekly in October at
Hulbert Junior School.
Jaime Law,
MEND
Programme Manager said:
“This is an excellent opportunity for young people to not only
learn about healthier food choices but also to help improve their
self-confidence, self-esteem and overall physical fitness whilst
having lots of fun.
“The feedback from youngsters who have taken part in previous
programmes has been extremely positive. Participants saw their body
mass index and waistline reduce giving a real boost to both their
self-confidence and their self-esteem!”
To book a place on the programme families should contact Jaime
