“Grow Your Sports Club” Conference
“Grow Your Sports Club” conference being held next week at
Havant College aims to support the hundreds of volunteers who run
local sports clubs in and around Havant Borough. Volunteers are the
lifeblood of sport in this country and without them we simply would
not have so many local opportunities for young people and adults to
participate in sport.
Spaces are still available for this event at Havant College on
Thursday 25th September, (5:30pm for a 6:30pm start), organised by
the Havant Sports & Physical Activity Alliance to give
something back to all those volunteers and say thank you for the
hours they give to running their local clubs and teams.
The conference costs £10 per sports club for up to four people
and individuals can also book on to the event. The deadline for
bookings has been extended to Monday 22nd September and you can get more
information and a booking form here >>
Havant Borough Council Sports Development Officer and Chair of
the Havant Sports & Physical Activity Alliance, Kyle Hanna
says, “We want to inspire, motivate and better equip all those
volunteers to keep them enthusiastic and give them some new ideas
about how to grow their sports clubs. If you are a committee
member, coach, volunteer or a supportive parent connected with a
sports team or group then this event is for you”.
Shaun Gale, Manager of Havant & Waterlooville FC, will be
attending the conference to give a keynote address which will
encourage local clubs in whatever sport to keep developing, growing
and engaging young people in positive sports activity.
The conference will be a mixture of workshops and update
sessions where you can find more information about funding,
recruiting volunteers, growing your club, setting up links with
local schools, sponsorship and much, much more.
Delegates attending the event will receive a buffet and have the
chance to look round exhibitor stalls specifically aimed at sports
clubs.
Kyle adds, “This conference aims to support the growth and
development of the many excellent sport clubs & teams we
already have in our Borough. We also want to attract those people
who are thinking about starting up a new team or club to attend.
Clubs from outside the Borough are also very welcome to come
along.”
