Say ‘yes’ to research call
From Monday 8 September 2008, a telephone survey begins to find
out about borough residents’ shopping and leisure activities.
Researchers will contact 1,000 households in order to establish
customers’ shopping and leisure patterns and seek their views to
help inform future policies for town and district centres and
support the Local Development Framework.
Town planning consultants Nathaniel Lichfield and Partners have
been commissioned by Havant Borough Council has to undertake a town
centre, retail and leisure study. The study will examine the
implications of the Major Development Area (MDA) to be built on the
western edge of Waterlooville town centre. The
MDA
is currently allocated to
provide a total of 2,000 new houses and some of the development’s
shopping and leisure requirements will be met by the Borough’s
centres, particularly Waterlooville.
The comprehensive household telephone will involve researchers
contacting households in and on the edge of the Borough who will be
asked about their shopping and leisure trips.
Havant Borough Council’s Policy Planner, Barry Bateman says
“Each survey will only take about 8 minutes to complete and we
really hope that that those residents contacted will take part in
this important piece of work. “
The study will address the Council’s priority to revitalise its
centres by bringing in new retail businesses in order to create a
distinctive shopping environment, as set out in the Council’s
Corporate Strategy.”
