Plan a Walking or Cycling Route

Did you know that you can use some of the online route planning systems to find the best walking or cycling route?

Try it! Follow this link to the ViaMichelin web site (other route planners are available) and choose 'Options' from within the 'Driving Directions' functional area of the screen. Then choose 'pedestrian' or 'by bike' within the listed options. Then when you enter a town name or postcode for the origin and destination of your journey, you will be given the most appropriate route on foot or by bike, rather than as a car driver.

For ready-to-go cycling route itineraries, see our 'Popular Cycle Rides' page.

The CycleStreets route planner is the first dedicated cycling journey planner, allowing the planning of a route which takes account of shortcuts and routes only available to cyclists, as well as avoiding hilly terrain. Routes can be downloaded to a GPS ('SatNav') device for reference whilst travelling.
