THE BOROUGH OF HAVANT (HAVANT: SOUTH STREET)

(RESTRICTION OF STOPPING) ORDER 2008

STATEMENT OF REASONS FOR

PROPOSING TO MAKE THIS ORDER

Notice is hereby given that Havant Borough Council pursuant to an arrangement entered into under Section 101 of the Local Government Act 1972, propose to make a permanent Order under the provisions of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the effect of which will be to introduce a restriction of “stopping” between the hours of 8am to 5pm, Monday to Friday inclusive, on the west side of South Street from a point 342 metres south-west from its junction with West Street, south-westwards thence south-eastwards for a total distance of 42 metres.

Currently the entrance to Bosmere Junior School is often blocked, causing congestion, by vehicles waiting to pick up and set down children. To alleviate this problem it is proposed to extend the existing “School Keep Clear” markings by 9 metres to a total length of 42 metres on the north-east side of the school entrance to protect vehicle access and improve visibility for other road users and pedestrians.

This Order is proposed so as to avoid danger to persons or other traffic using the roads, for preventing the likelihood of any such danger arising and to facilitate the passage of traffic.

Drawing No. HI12/275 ( PDF , 356 Kb ) >>  shows the length of road, which is the subject of the proposed order.
