Fat Face Windsurfing Festival, 6/7 September on Hayling

Free Windsurfing Lessons for residents
Free windsurfing lessons are available for
residents of Havant Borough as part of the Fat Face Windsurfing
festival. The festival takes place this weekend from the Inn
on the Beach. There are separate lessons for children (aged 8
to 15) and adults. Lessons will be taken by fully qualified
RYA (Royal Yachting Association) instructors and will last 2.5
hours. The free lessons will take place on Saturday morning
at 10am and on Sunday at 10am and again at 1.30pm. A deposit
of £10 is required to reserve your place which is refunded after
the lesson. Participants in the lessons will also receive a
free £10 Fat face voucher and a free £10 RYA (Royal Yachting
Association) voucher.
Spaces are limited and will be allocated on a
first come first served basis.
To reserve your free lesson please complete
the booking form and return with your £10 deposit cheque to Kyle
Hanna, Havant Borough Council, Sports Development, Civic Offices,
Havant, PO9 2AX. Alternatively you can come to the civic
offices and leave your completed form and deposit at
reception.
Away from the free lessons there is much for
residents to enjoy during the festival. Spectators are free
to turn up on both days to watch the
action. Now in its third year the event, run
in conjunction with the UKWA (UK Windsurfing Association), has
firmly become one of the favorite events for pros and amateurs
alike and has been hailed as ‘the best windsurfing event in 20
years".
The format of the event sees competitors
battling it out through constant heats held throughout the day with
only the best making it through to the finals. Starting at
9:30pm on Saturday under the cover of darkness, the Fat Face Night
Final is a brilliant spectator event with a wonderful
atmosphere. With a prize pot of £2,000 there is much at
stake, as well as the accolade of being crowned the Fat Face Night
Windsurf Champion.
