Park-Phone-Pay, RingGo!
A new system enabling car park users to pay for parking by
credit or debit card using their mobile phones is now live
Havant Borough Council has signed a contract with Cobalt
Telephone Technologies Ltd to provide the system called RingGo,
which is a simple and cost-effective way to pay for parking by
credit or debit card, using a mobile phone.
The system also allows the motorist to extend their stay without
having to return to the car park to purchase another ticket.
Parking Civil Enforcement Officers, using handheld computers will
access the RingGo system, and check the details of all vehicles
that have paid by phone to park at a particular car park.
How it works:
- First time users phone the number displayed in the car park and
register their credit/debit card, their vehicle details and their
mobile phone number. Motorists can also register on the Internet by using this
link>>
- Once a motorist has registered they do not need to do so again
as the system automatically recognises their phone number
- They then enter a four-digit car park location number displayed
in the car park followed by the duration they wish to stay
- The parking fee is then deducted from their credit/debit card
plus a 20p service charge added by the service provider
- The motorist has now paid for their parking and, for an extra
cost of 10p, can request a text or e-mail reminder to advise them
that their parking period is due to expire. Once registered the
whole payment process takes less than a minute to complete
- The motorist can extend their parking period at any time by
calling the RingGo number or by using the internet.
