Council's Accounts

The council has approved, subject to external audit, its accounts for the year to March 2008.

The borough council spends 13.5% of the Council Tax you pay, the remainder being spent by Hampshire County Council, Hampshire Police Authority and Hampshire Fire and Rescue Authority.

More of the council’s spending is met from government grant than from Council Tax.

Since Council Tax was introduced in 1993 the council’s spending has increased less than inflation – however, government grant has comparatively reduced causing above-inflation Council Tax increases.

The council’s full draft accounts and an out-turn report are available on our website, which you can view by using this link>>   The final audited version will be published by the end of September.
