West of Waterlooville MDA
The new community at West of Waterlooville is one of four Major
Development Areas (MDAs) required by the Hampshire County Structure
Plan 1996-2011 (Review).
The Winchester District Local Plan Review (2006) identifies land
to accommodate a mixed-use new community of at least 2000 dwellings
plus 30 hectares of employment land and facilities. Situated within
the south-east extremity of Winchester District adjoining
Waterlooville, the majority of the development area is within
Winchester District, but a small part is within Havant Borough.
Both councils are therefore working in partnership to plan for the
new community.
Developers, Taylor Wimpey in the north and Grainger PLC in the
south, are working together to ensure an integrated, visually
attractive, and sustainable place to live and work. So far the work
on-site has been surveying and implementing plans to protect and
migrate some of the species on site.
Greater crested newt fences have been erected to stop them
entering the development site and areas have been created to enable
the capture and relocation of reptiles.
With regard to planning applications and following previous
outline approval, the Design Codes and Infrastructure applications
have been approved. Taylor Wimpey Phase 1 has been received and the
Grainger phase 1 application is imminent. Further updates will be
provide in Serving You.
