Dunsbury Hill Farm –Gateway to the Solent!
Dunsbury Hill Farm, a 13.2 hectare green field site located in
the north of the borough, between Junction 3 of the A3(M) and
Warren Park is set to be transformed into a high-quality business
and technology park and hotel.
The development could create up to 1,800 jobs, significant
opportunities for new enterprise and business growth and will
provide a foundation for increased prosperity in the borough. The
business and technology park will be close to Leigh Park where
unemployment remains above both the borough and county average. In
addition to creating much-needed local jobs, resources will be used
to upskill residents to equip them for these new job
opportunities.
Essex-based Countryside Properties have been selected as the
developers for the site, to be called Solent Gateway; they plan to
develop the site over the next six years with expected completion
by 2014. The council will work closely with the developer,
Portsmouth City Council as land owners, The University of
Portsmouth, and others to ensure that a high-quality, prestigious
new business and technology park is created.
An essential part of this work will be consultation with the
local community to help shape the scheme before the developers make
a planning application which is currently expected in July
2009.
The development will provide space for offices, research and
development, industry and warehousing along with a hotel and an
enterprise centre for start up companies. The developers have
started to work up their proposals in greater detail and updates on
progress will be included in future editions of Serving You.
