Strike Action and service delivery
Havant Borough Council has put in place
contingency plans for refuse and recycling collections in light of
next week’s national strike action by Unison, the Council’s
recognised Trade Union, on 16/17th July.
As it is not possible to determine how many
staff will strike, every attempt will be made to collect domestic
waste (rubbish) on the two strike days as normal. Residents are
asked to put out their bin as normal on their set collection day.
If the bin is not collected then residents are further asked to put
out their bin on every morning thereafter by 7am until it is
collected.
Recycling collections will take place on
following scheduled collection in two weeks time. As this
will then be a four week collection all recycling put out will be
collected.
Residents who use the council’s Garden,
Clinical and Special waste collection services are being contacted
directly to inform them of revised arrangements.
At this time the council does not anticipate
that any other services will be affected enough to cause noticeable
disruption. It has already been decided that for other frontline
services such as street cleansing and litter collection, priority
would be given to shopping centres.
Residents are assured that every effort will
be made to maintain as normal service as possible and should they
have any concerns they can contact our customer services centre on
023 9244 6019.
