Hayling Seafront Masterplan Consultation 2008
Havant Borough Council formally consulted on the Hayling
Seafront Masterplan (Regulation 17) during summer 2008
from 4 July until 25 August.
The masterplan set out proposals to create a
more attractive and accessible seafront including a new watersports
centre at West Beach, a tourist development with restaurants,
shops, residential and visitor accommodation and public plaza at
Beachlands and a new café and play area at Eastoke
Corner.
The council received 341 responses during the consultation
in the form of questionnaires completed by the public and a number
of responses from other interested consultees.
During the summer of 2008 a Visitor
Survey was also completed. A number of individuals
were approached as they used Hayling Island Seafront (24 and
31 July and 8,15 and 28 August). The interviewers moved along
the seafront asking and completing various questions on the survey
form between the hours of 9.30am and 4.30pm.
