Statement regarding Gypsy and Traveller sites

Havant Borough Council is working closely with other local authorities across Hampshire, together with South East Regional Assembly (SERA) to determine where transit and permanent sites for travellers could be placed in the county.

The document referred to in “The News” stating a public consultation is now underway is referring to the Draft Homelessness Strategy which does not have any impact on traveller sites being planned for the borough.

Councillor David Collins, Portfolio Holder for Environment said “As yet no sites have been identified in the borough, as we do not know the level of provision we have to supply. We will be working closely with SERA and a full public consultation will take place later in the year”
