Consultation outcomes
|
There was a strong opinion (87%) that there
are insufficient disabled bays within Council operated car
parks. The results for signing of disabled parking and the
width of bays was generally favourable but there was less
satisfaction with the location of bays and the ease of access to
amenities. 35% of blue badge holders though that provisions
were better in council operated car parks and 17% thought they were
better in private car parks. 57% of blue badge holders use
car parks and of those who park on-street, 59% park on yellow
lines. All respondents were asked if they thought that
parking in council operated car parks should remain free for blue
badge holders, 65% thought they should, 23% thought they should pay
a reduced fee and 12% thought they should pay the full fee.
Of blue badge 68% said that they would be more likely to park on
street if they had to pay to park in car parks.
