Leigh Park Shopping Centre boosts recycling

A new way to dispose of your rubbish and recycling whilst shopping has now been introduced at Leigh Park Shopping Centre.

The three new dual recycling bins are designed for public use in shopping areas and open spaces, collecting both litter and recycling. The bins each have separate compartments within them to collect paper, card, plastic bottles and cans separate to non-recyclable materials.

Rubbish and Recycle bins

Following the success of a three month trial period in Havant Town Centre, Havant Borough Council is now introducing the dual bins in Leigh Park to provide more recycling facilities in public places, making it easier for people to recycle wherever they are.

All recycling materials collected from the bins will be taken to the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) to be sorted and recycled alongside household recyclables.

Since the introduction of Alternate Weekly Collections (AWC) the Borough of Havant currently recycles 32% of its household waste, 2% higher than Central Government’s standard.

The new bins will be situated outside Tesco’s, Netto’s and Iceland in Greywell Shopping Precinct, Leigh Park.
