The Urban Design and Landscape Team
promotes the value of good design throughout the Borough and is
made up of design professionals incorporating urban design,
landscape design, nature conservation and graphics support. We
champion a high quality 'Public Realm' and explore strategic
opportunities for its delivery. We undertake environmental
enhancement projects from concept design to implementation
stage. The Team also provides urban design and landscape
comments on planning applications. We work in partnership with
other Council Departments and the local community to deliver
environmental regeneration.

Havant Borough Council consults the Conservancy on all planning applications within the AONB boundary and also those applications on or just outside of the boundary that are visible from within the AONB.

Previous environmental enhancement schemes in the Borough
The report contains an analysis of the landscape character of the proposed strategic and local gaps in the Borough, their function, selection criteria and boundaries. Potential development sites are also identified within the gaps and their suitability for development evaluated.
Havant Borough Council, jointly with Hampshire County Council and the Countryside Agency, appointed consultants to undertake an integrated landscape character assessment of the borough. This study is part of an initiative to foster a better understanding of the variety of historic, landscape, ecological, social, economic and cultural factors that have created the distinctive character of Havant Borough. In February 2004 the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister approved Havant Borough Council’s for a Liveability Fund grant. The total Award was £3.7m. The Urban Design and Implementation Team are designing and implementing a number of strategic projects and schemes throughout the borough as well as coordinating the projects being run by consultants.
