Water storage at Havant Thicket
The construction of a winter storage reservoir at Havant Thicket
will potentially herald significant leisure opportunities for the
area. It is planned to be one mile long, half a mile wide and hold
approximately 8.7 million litres of water.
A public consultation took place in spring 2008 and more than
850 people attended the public exhibitions. Portsmouth Water
Company plan to submit an outline planning application for the
reservoir in May 2009 to Havant Borough Council and East Hampshire
District Council. If successful, construction is unlikely to start
before 2015, although preparatory work could start in late 2009.
Both councils will continue to work with local partners to
represent the interests of local residents and keep you informed of
developments.
