Youth Dance
New Moves Youth Dance is a project aimed at young people aged 11
to 19, with members having the chance to participate in dance
classes held in Leigh Park, Emsworth, Hayling Island and
Waterlooville.
The young dancers meet weekly and work with professional dance
artists to create exciting dance routines. Members also get the
opportunity to work with professional dance companies and perform
at the Chichester Festival Theatre, The Hawth in Crawley, Havant
Arts Centre and Gunwharf Quays.
Classes are fun and creative and enable young people in the area
to gain access to quality dance.
New Motion Dance Company is a new project for talented young
dancers. Members meet weekly at Havant Arts Centre and commit to
various intensive days to create quality dance performances. The
company of 10 dancers is chosen annually by audition, looking for
talented young dancers from the borough.
In September the company will team up with a specialist ‘dance
for the camera’ artist and create a film that will be complimented
by a live dance performance.
Both of these projects are supported by Havant Borough Council
and Hampshire County Council.
