Wildflower meadow in Warblington Cemetery

Within the extension of Warblington Cemetery, opened in 2006 there is a “Natural Burial area” which is becoming increasingly popular, and not just for burials. The wildflower meadow is in flower with poppies, cornflower and other wild species.

Peter Armstrong, Havant Borough Council’s Cemeteries Manger, said, “We are pleased to be able to offer the “green” option in a rural setting. Wicker, bamboo, cardboard and unpolished pine coffins burials have all taken place within this cemetery and we are receiving a growing number of enquiries about this type of burial. “

There is a wide range of choices of burial and ashes interments within the borough of Havant, with friendly and knowledgeable staff on site at Warblington and Waterlooville cemeteries to give helpful advice. A Cemetery Information Pack has been produced to guide you through what can be a very emotional time. Anyone wishing for a copy can contact the Cemetery Service on 023 9244 6425 or email cemeteries@havant.gov.uk

A rolling programme of safety inspections of memorials continues. If you are a deed holder of a grave and have moved address please let us know. It is also advisable to mention you hold a deed in the preparation of any will.
