Hayling Island Community Centre
Built in 1981, Hayling Island Community Centre is situated
within the scenic surroundings of Hayling Park in Station Road,
West Town.
The building is owned by Havant Borough Council and run by
Hayling Island Community Centre Association (known as ‘HICCA’) who
are a registered charity. The reception is mainly staffed by a team
of willing volunteers who are kept very busy with over 2,000
visitors each week.
The Community Centre is open daily from 9am until 10.30pm and
holds a wide variety of weekly activities that include karate,
badminton, majorettes, aerobics, yoga, line dancing, gym club,
toddler group, art, bridge, I.T., patchwork, wrestling and dog
training. In fact, something for everyone!
The main hall is ideal for wedding receptions, concerts, public
meetings and exhibitions as it can hold up to 400 people. There are
also four smaller activity rooms that are popular for children’s
parties, adult education, courses and meetings. Equipment is
available at the centre for anyone wishing to play badminton, short
mat bowls, table tennis and skittles.
The centre also has a public bar which is opened for functions,
a snack bar and a well-equipped modern kitchen.
