New Charges for Penalty Charge Notice's ( PCN )

The Traffic Management Act requires us to have differential penalties. This means that the more serious contraventions carry a higher penalty than the less serious ones.

The higher penalty is set at £70, with a discount if payment is made within 14 days to £35. The lower penalty is set at £50, with a discount if payment is made within 14 days to £25.

Examples of the higher penalty are: parking on zig zags lines (both schools and pedestrian), parking on a double yellow line or at a bus stop.

Examples of the lower penalty are: expired pay and display ticket and over staying the time limit in a free parking bay.

Listed below are the contraventions we will be enforcing and the penalty band they fall into.
