New National Concessionary Bus Pass
From 1st April 2008 changes will be made to the Concessionary
Travel Scheme. The new National Concessionary Bus Pass will replace
any current bus passes that have been issued under the Hampshire
Farepass Scheme.
This means that if you are 60 or over, or eligible disabled, you
will be entitled to free, off-peak travel on local bus services
throughout England.
Under the new National Scheme, bus passes may be used on buses
operated by all local service operators anywhere in England from
9.30 am until 11.00 pm on weekdays and all day at weekends and Bank
Holidays. Companion Passes will cease to be issued from 1st April
2008.
If you already have a bus pass, you should have received a
letter asking you to complete a yellow application form. Unless
this application form is completed and returned a new National
Concessionary Bus Pass cannot be issued.
All existing bus passes issued by Havant Borough Council will
expire at midnight on 31st March 2008, even if the pass is showing
a later expiry date. If you are an existing pass holder and have
not received a letter enclosing a yellow application form or if you
wish to apply for a bus pass please contact Havant Borough
Council’s Customer Services on 023 9244 6012 as soon as possible so
the necessary arrangements can be made for a new pass to be issued
to you.
The new pass will be a plastic, credit-card sized card with a
photograph on the holder displayed on the front. Each pass will
valid for a minimum of three years. For customers who have returned
their yellow application forms, new passes will be despatched
during March 2008 and delivered in time for use from 1st April
2008.
