Bank Holiday Collections
There will be no changes to your normal collection days
over Easter, May Day, Spring Bank Holiday and August Bank Holiday
2008.
The council's rubbish and recycling collection teams will now
carry out all collections on the regular days, even when they
fall on a bank holiday.
A revised Christmas Collections Timetable is still to be agreed
and will be distributed to you in December 2008.

Recycle whilst you shop
With the introduction of Alternate Weekly Collections to
households, Havant’s recycling rate is now at 30%, the highest it
has ever been. However we still need to be doing more to reach the
government's target of 40% by 2010.
With this is mind, Havant Borough Council has introduced
recycling bins in Havant Town Centre which will keep recycling in
the public eye. Shoppers can now recycle paper, card, cans and
plastic bottles, making recycling just as important outdoors as it
is in the home and fostering the message that waste should be
recycled wherever it arises.
The new bins also have an ashtray facility on the top to
encourage smokers not to drop their cigarette butts on the
floor.
Don’t waste it !!
A third of all the food we buy in the UK ends up being thrown
away, which over the course of a year is worth around £8 billion.
Most is perfectly good food that could have been eaten.
That’s why Havant Borough Council, together with Recycle for
Hampshire, is are supporting the “Love Food Hate Waste” campaign
which aims to raise awareness and provide helpful and practical
hints and tips on how to enjoy the food you buy, and cut down on
the amount of food that is thrown away.
