Getting Planning Advice
Anyone wishing to seek advice from Havant Borough Council on
planning issues can now pre-book an appointment.
If you wish to speak to a Planning Officer face-to-face an
appointment can be made through the Customer Services Centre on the
ground floor of the Civic Offices.
When booking your appointment you will be asked to give as much
information as possible, such as details of the site address, a
description of the proposal and dimensions of what is proposed.
An appointment will then be made for you between 9.30am and 11am
or from 11.45am to 1.30pm where you can discuss your proposal and
receive more definitive advice.
You will then receive a letter within 10 working days of your
appointment informing you as to whether permission is needed,
together with any advice on how to improve your proposal.
Alternatively, you can telephone for basic advice and a member
of our Customer Services Centre will take some basic information
from you and e-mail the duty planning officer who will then return
your call by the next day at the very latest, with advice.
If you would like to make an appointment to see the Duty
Planning Officer, please call the Customer Services Centre on 023
9244 6015.

Following previous articles in Serving You, the new National
Standard Planning Application Form, or
1APP
as it is
known, has now been introduced at Havant Borough Council.
1APP now ensures that every local authority throughout England
has a standard planning system that is clearer and more efficient
for everyone.
It has replaced forms that were previously used for:
- Householder applications
- Full planning permission
- Outline planning permission, including approval of reserved
matters
- Listed building consent
- Conservation area consent
- Advertisement consent
- Tree works (including trees protected by a
TPO
and trees in a conservation
area)
- Certificate of lawfulness of existing and proposed use of
development.
Building Control and Minerals applications are not included in
the current implementation of
1APP
.
The Planning Portal Online Applications Service
There will still be an option to complete and submit paper
copies of an application form but there are lots of advantages to
completing your application online at www.planningportal.gov.uk
This Planning Portal will only ask questions relevant to the
applicant, making the form quicker and easier to complete.
