Getting Planning Advice - Duty Planner
Anyone wishing to seek advice from the
Council about whether a proposed extension or
alteration to an existing domestic dwelling will require
planning permission or not can speak to a planning officer using
the Duty Planner service.
Personal callers
Anyone wishing to speak to Duty Planner
face-to-face can pre-book an appointment through Customer
Services on (023) 92446015. Please have the following information
ready;
- site address
- an exact description of the
proposal
- where in relation to the existing dwelling it
will be sited
- dimensions of what is proposed
- name and a contact telephone number.
There will be 15 minute appointments from
10.00am to 10.30am and then from 12.15am to 12.45pm.
You can then discuss your proposal and receive
more definitive advice.
All callers will be advised in writing within
10 working days of the duty appointment whether permission is
needed and any advice on how to improve the scheme.
Telephone callers
If you require less complex advice,
Customer Services will take the same information as above and
e-mail the duty planning officer. They will then ring and
advise you by the next day, at the very latest.
Written Pre-application Advice service
As well as the Duty Planner service, the Council operates a
written Pre-application Advice service that is currently free for
Householder developments. To take advantage of this service,
please complete the Pre-application Advice Request
form and post or hand deliver to the Council Offices.
Your request will be allocated to an officer who will
investigate and provide you with a formal response. It
is the Council's aim to answer these requests within 10
working days, although please note that during very busy
periods this may not always be the case.
