On the
MEND
A new programme is under way in the borough to raise self-esteem
and confidence in children, whilst encouraging exercise and healthy
eating.
MEND (Mind, Exercise, Nutrition, Do-it!) is the first programme
of its kind in the area aimed at children aged between seven and 13
who are overweight or obese.
Havant Borough Council’s Community Team is working in
partnership with local schools, dieticians and the Big Lottery Fund
to deliver 14
MEND
programmes across the
borough over the next two years.
These fun and interactive courses involve food tasting, teaching
children how to read food labels properly and learn what foods are
good foods; and also involve helpful discussions.
