Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment

The Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment ( SHLAA ) is an important piece of evidence base which will inform the preparation of the Local Development Framework ( LDF ).  The SHLAA  contains an assessment of the amount of new land that is available for housing development.  The role of the SHLAA is to:

  • identify sites with potential for housing;
  • assess their housing potential; and
  • assess when they are likely to be developed.

The Council consulted on the methodology in the Summer 2007 and the comments received were taken into consideration in the preparation of the draft SHLAA . We then consulted on the draft SHLAA in Spring 2008 and the final version will be published when we have considered the responses.
