Neighbour Disputes

Neighbour disputes can stem from a number of things:

  • rowdy and inconsiderate behaviour click here for advice >>
  • excessive noise click here for advice >>
  • harassment (such as verbal abuse or threats)
  • intimidation
  • a property which is dangerous or unhealthy
  • an overgrown garden which may be encroaching on a property compromising the enjoyment of the property.
  • car parking
  • property boundaries
  • dog nuisance click here for advice >>

Talk to your neighbour -  Approaching your neighbour calmly and politely and asking them to change their behaviour may be all that is needed to resolve the situation.  They may not be aware they are causing a disturbance and it just so happens that you have conflicting lifestyles.

Mediation - if approaching your neighbour directly does not solve the problem then mediation may help you both come to an understanding.  Mediation consists of a impartial third party (mediator) helping disputing neighbours discuss their problems with each other in a neutral location, this will hopefully result in an agreement between the two parties meaning no further action will need to be taken.
