Christmas collections
During December your team of rubbish collectors will be leaving
you reminders on your bin informing you when your rubbish and
recycling will be collected over the Christmas period.
Please do not leave extra waste on top or alongside your rubbish
bins as this will not be collected, even during this festive
period.
If you have more recycling than will fit in your recycling bin,
you can leave it either in untied carrier bags or a cardboard box
next to your green bin and this will be collected. Please do not
use black sacks when leaving out any extra recycling.

Christmas Recycling tip - Gift wrap can not be placed
in the recycling wheeled bin.
How to Recycle your real Christmas tree
After the Christmas holidays are over and you're left packing up
the sparkly lights and glittery ornaments, are you wondering what
to do with your Christmas tree?
Well why not take it along to your nearest Household Waste
Recycling Centre (
HWRC
) in either Fishery
Lane, Hayling Island; Hambledon Road, Waterlooville; or Harts Farm
Way, Havant where it will be chopped, chipped, composted and turned
into a soil conditioner called ProGrow.
The
HWRCs
will be open daily throughout the holidays apart from Christmas
Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
Alternatively, you can purchase one of Havant Borough Council’s
garden waste sacks. Cut the branches down, together with the trunk,
into small pieces ensuring the tree fits into the bag and it can be
tied. You can then request collection by contacting 023 9244
6010.
Christmas trees will not be collected from alongside your
rubbish or recycling wheeled bins.
