As featured regularly in Serving You, the Local Development Framework ( LDF ) will set the general policies for making decisions on planning applications within the borough.

Allocations of land for housing and employment needs will feature in the LDF and the council’s Planning Policy Team are working on studies to find the best sites.

Enough land to build 6,301 homes by 2026 must be identified and although the majority of these homes will be built within existing urban areas, there is still a need to allocate some greenfield sites to fit them all in.

Looking at the borough’s business needs and where new employment floorspace might be best located, studies will show what kinds of employment land the borough will need in the future and how the quantity and quality of employment floorspace can be improved.

Both studies will provide important background information for consultation which will be contained in the Core Strategy and Allocations Development Plan Documents. Consultation will take place in spring 2008 and you will be kept up to date on consultation dates through Serving You and the council’s website.

You can also obtain further information on the LDF and how you can get involved by contacting the Planning Policy Team on 023 9244 6539 or at policy.design@havant.gov.uk
