Blooming Marvellous Results
Earlier this year judges from South and South East England in
Bloom were taken on a tour to inspect various floral displays,
permanent landscaping, biodiversity, local environment quality and
public awareness of In Bloom through
out the borough.
Havant Borough Council won Silver Gilt in the category of Large
Town/Small City (over 35,000 in population) in the Southern
area.
Havant also received the Best Environmental Initiative Award for
the South of England for various initiatives such as using back
wash water from Waterlooville Swimming Pool to water the flowers
and for partnership working with the Probation Service.
Although this was only the second year of entering the
competition, Havant Borough Council not only received these awards
but also received 13 Certificates of Excellence for Participants in
Bloom.
They were:

- 79 Little Park Avenue, Bedhampton (front garden)
- Mr. Barber, Botley Drive (front garden)
- Mr. Jones, 72 Little Park Avenue, Bedhampton (front
garden)
- Amy Gwinnell, Rivermead Court, Emsworth (front garden)
- Glenhurst School, Beechworth Road, Havant (floral display at
front of school)
- National Probation Service – partnership working with
HBC
- Staunton Country Park
- Bedhampton Community Allotment Project
- Friends of Park Wood, Waterlooville
- Bedhampton Volunteers
- Park Community School
- Waterlooville Leisure Centre.
