Equalities in Havant
As mentioned in the last issue of Serving You there are six
strands or themes to the Equalities legislation.
1. Age
2. Disability
3. Gender
4. Race (including Romany Gypsies and Travellers of Irish
Heritage)
5. Religion and belief (including lack of belief)
6. Sexual Orientation.
Havant Borough Council has to ensure that all our services are
right for everyone in the borough and we have to make sure that we
do not unlawfully discriminate against anyone because of any of the
above themes in terms of employment and the provision of goods and
services we provide.
This is where we need your help!
We need to gain a clearer picture of who lives in our borough.
To do this we will be sending out a questionnaire to you relating
to the six points listed above. The information we gain back from
these questionnaires will help us to help you in not being
discriminated in any way. It will also tell us how our community is
made up (this is all this information will be used for).
We would also like to hear from organisations who work with any
of the above themes who can help us to contact the harder-to-reach
communities so that everyone can have their chance to influence
policy decisions that are made and that affect everyone. If you are
part of such an organisation please get in touch and let us know
which group you specialise in and what work you do.
