Floods

This survey has now closed

Flooding has become more of an issue over the past few years, with higher tides causing flooding on Hayling Island during the winter and heavy rain storms causing disruption on the mainland.

Flooding

Havant Borough Council is aware of many locations where flooding or poor drainage is a problem, but we would like to complement our existing knowledge by getting a fuller picture of known local flooding problems. If you are aware of any flooding problem in your local area we would like to hear from you.

The information we receive will then be plotted onto a map to see where the problem areas mostly occur.

This information will then assist in our understanding of flooding and how problems may be dealt with when dealing with planning applications in the Borough.

Residents in some wards of the borough have already been sent questionnaires within the past year from their local councillor regarding flood and drainage issues. However we would still like to hear from you as some of the details and information requested are different.

An online form is available on our website for you to send us details of areas you know are affected by flooding or poor drainage. Anyone wishing to view this can visit one of our Customer Access Points which have free internet use. You will find them at your local libraries in Waterlooville, Havant, Leigh Park, Emsworth and Hayling Island. Other access points can be found in Leigh Park, Hayling Island and Stakes Community Centres as well as the Civic Offices.

Some confusion often occurs as to who is responsible for what when it comes to flooding, drainage and sewers so Havant Borough Council has published a leaflet explaining the difference between the three and the responsibilities of the Council, Southern Water and the Environment Agency. The Leaflet is available from Havant Borough Council Customer Services at the Civic Offices or can be viewed on-line by following this link>>
