The National Cycle Network

The National Cycle Network ( NCN ) is an important means of delivering the National Cycle Strategy. This seeks to increase the amount of cycling by the provision of extra cycling-friendly features such as cycle lanes, dedicated cycle paths and tracks, clear signage and links with other travel modes. The NCN's construction is being co-ordinated by Sustrans, a cycling charity. The NCN's website and online network map is available through this external link >>

The Borough sits at an important junction in the NCN, with two routes meeting in Havant town centre - NCN2, the 'South Coast Route' from Kent to Cornwall via Brighton, Chichester, Havant, Portsmouth, Southampton, Dorchester and Exeter; and NCN22 from the outskirts of London, via Guildford, Petersfied, Havant, Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight to the New Forest.

Locally these routes are represented by the following roads:

NCN2: Emsworth - Havant Road - Havant - Hayling Billy Trail - Staunton Avenue - Ferry Road - Hayling Ferry

NCN22: Rowlands Castle - Petersfield Road - Crosslands Drive - Havant Station - Park Road North - cycle lanes via Solent Retail Park and Langstone Technology Park - Harts Farm Way - Broadmarsh cycle path
