Member Attendance at Meetings
The attendance records of any or all elected members of the
Council are available on request. These records relate to the
following meetings:-
| (a) |
The Executive |
| (b) |
The Overview and Scrutiny Boards |
| (c) |
The Regulatory Committees |
| (d) |
The Staffing Matters Committee |
| (e) |
The Standards Committee |
| (f) |
Any Sub-Committees or Panels set up by (a) to (e). |
and includes details for each member of:
| (i) |
The total number of expected attendances |
| (ii) |
When they were present as expected |
| (iii) |
When they were absent, including apologies |
| (iv) |
Apologies received. |
and are held in full covering the period since 1 October
2006.
Those interested in these records need to be aware that
attending meetings represents only a small part of the work
undertaken by a Councillor in the course of a year.
Councillors undertake a wide range of work that can be summarised
by the following key roles:-
| (i) |
collectively the ultimate policy-makers and carry out a number
of strategic and corporate management functions; |
| (ii) |
represent their communities and bring their views into the
Council’s decision making process; ie become the advocate of and
for their communities; |
| (iii) |
effectively represent the interests of their ward and of
individual constituents; |
| (iv) |
balance different interests identified within the ward and
represent the ward as a whole; |
| (v) |
participate in the governance and management of the
Council; |
| (vi) |
be available to represent the Council on other bodies; |
| |
and |
| (vii) |
maintain the highest standards of conduct and ethics. |
