Development of the Solent Retail Park by
Hargreaves in the centre of Havant involved the provision of
additional highway capacity on Park Road South (northbound) between
the Langstone roundabout and the junction at Solent Road, where a
dedicated left turn lane was added, as well as on the roundabout
itself where a third lane was added and the roundabout remodelled.
Work was carried out between May and December 2007.
The work included upgrading the north - south
footway / cycleway link between Langstone Technology Park and
Havant town centre (Footpath 51) to form an extension of the
Broadmarsh cycleway which is part of National Cycle Network route
NCN22. This now provides a segregated cycle route from Portsmouth
to Havant (more details on this part of the project
are elsewhere on
this web site >>). As part of this route a new
footbridge crossing the Lavant Stream opened in April 2008.
