This celebration of local talent is open to all artists and craftmakers living or working in the borough.  This is a fantastic opportunity for artists and makers to showcase and sell their work. Get involved in the Nine Days Art Trail 2011 - show off your talents and be a part of this borough wide celebration of visual arts, crafts and creativity.  

 

Unfortunately registration for artists and makers has now closed for the Nine Days Arts Trail 2011. If you would be interested in finding out about registering for the 2012 Arts Trail, please email your details to art@havant.gov.uk

 

The Nine Days Arts Trail in 2011 is being run by The Spring Arts & Heritage Centre on behalf of Havant Borough Council.

 

 

 

 

 

 

New Motion Dance Company is a new project for talented young dancers. Members meet weekly at The Spring Arts & Heritage Centre, Havant, and commit to various intensive days to create quality dance performances. The company of 10  talented young dancers from the borough is chosen annually by audition.

 

New Motion are working with Retina Dance Company to create a new piece of work for performance on 10th March, 4th April and as part of the Olypmic Open Weekend 2011 on 22 -24 July to celebrate a year to go until the Olympics.

 

New Motion is supported by Havant Borough Council and Hampshire County Council.

New Moves Youth Dance

 

New Moves Youth Dance is a project aimed at young people aged 11-19, with members having the chance to participate in dance classes held in leigh Park, Emsworth, Hayling Island and Waterlooville. Weekly youth dance sessions for all experiences and abilities are led by professional dancers at various schools and community centres around the borough.

Outdoor Events

The Culture service has provided various street entertainers to perform in Havant and Waterlooville town centres for Christmas and summer celebrations and has worked with Staunton Country Park to organise a series of free summer music concerts including 'Staunton Live!' - Staunton’s annual live music event throughout August in the beautiful setting of Leigh Park Gardens.

The Havant Borough District-Wide Local Plan 2006-11 includes a commitment to commission new public art works for large schemes.  Havant Borough Council has produced a Public Art Policy to assist Planning Officers and developers and the Arts Development service will be informed and involved in the selection and installation process.   

 

In 2005, Havant Borough Council received a government grant to improve public spaces and comissiooned a series of public artworks such as the Orbital sculpture in Havant Park and the bronze history trail plaques in Waterlooville, made by artists John Thomson and Bruce Williams respectively. These works took local heritage and the enviroment as their inspiration and help to develop a sense of local identity.
