Music Fusion

 

Havant Borough Council is a member of the Music Fusion consortium (with Fareham Borough Council, Gosport Borough Council, Hampshire County Council, Hampshire Music Service and Portsmouth City Council).  
 
The Music Fusion project is lottery funded by Youth Music and runs a programme of activities for children and young people aged 0-18 years.

Act One Youth Theatre

 
Havant Borough Council receives an annual grant from the Hampshire Children's Fund to support youth theatre outreach activities.  The Act One Youth Theatre managed by Havant Arts Centre is open to children and young people aged 7-18 years.  Further details are available on www.havantartscentre.co.uk/events/category/workshops-for-children  (this is an external website)

New Moves

 
Youth dance sessions led by professional dancers at various schools and community centres around the borough providing an opportunity for children and young people to choreograph their own dances, explore different styles, learn performance skills and contemporary dance techniques.

May Days Arts Trail

 

This month-long visual arts showcase is a celebration of local talent and is open to all artists and craftmakers living or working in the borough.  Artists are invited to open their studios and homes to the public for one weekend to exhibit and sell their work.

Art Works

 

A term time programme of creative activities for young people aged 14-19 years working in partnership with Hampshire County Youth Service and the e2e group (for young people who are not in employment, education or training) in Wecock, Leigh Park, Havant, Emsworth and Hayling Island, supported by Arts Council South East. 
 

Street Sport

 

Havant Borough Council, in partnership with Hermitage Housing, provides a programme of free arts and sports activities years throughout the summer holidays.  Music, circus, visual arts and dance workshops are open to children aged 8-15 years in parks and community venues across the borough.

Outdoor Events

 

The Arts Development service has provided various street entertainers to perform in Havant and Waterlooville town centres for Christmas and summer celebrations and has worked with Staunton Country Park to organise a series of free summer music concerts.

Public Art

 

The Havant Borough District-Wide Local Plan 2006-11 includes a commitment to commission new public art works for large schemes.  Havant Borough Council has produced a Public Art Policy to assist Planning Officers and developers and the Arts Development service will be informed and involved in the selection and installation process.
