The Council is responsible for ensuring that the energy
efficiency of the housing stock in the Borough is significantly
improved over the next ten years. The Community Regeneration
Service runs a number of projects to promote energy efficiency and
renewable energy to residents, community groups and
businesses. The Council’s Home Energy Conservation Officer
can provide the following services to residents, community groups,
schools and businesses
Residents
We provide energy efficiency advice including referrals to low
cost and free insulation schemes. We work in partnership with
Your Energy Advice Centre to advise on cavity wall and loft
insulation. Anyone, regardless of income can receive a
grant towards the cost of insulation through the Government's
Energy Efficiency Commitment. Contact the Your Energy Advice

Energy efficient light bulbs are available free to those
on qualifying benefits
We offer crisis support through the health through warmth
programme for residents living in cold, damp homes and at risk from
health problems.
Please note, there are no grant schemes from the council or
government which cover the cost of double-glazing, rewiring or any
other type of home improvement.
Information, DIY guides and other booklets are also available
on request.
Community Groups
Talks, workshops and presentations to community groups on
energy efficiency matters are available.
Schools
We can put together tailored sessions for school aged
children, school assemblies and presentations to staff and
pupils. We also run competitions with local schools.
