A Preferred Options document was prepared
taking into consideration the comments which were raised at
the Issues and Options consultations. The document explains
the different options which have been considered and the reason for
selecting the Preferred Option.
The council held a consultation in Spring
2008 (second stage). The consultation was available to
the general public through the website and all households in the
borough received notification of the consultation through
Serving You Summer
2008. In respect of the Core Strategy Preferred Options we
received 2205 comments from 201 different people.
The various comments were collated and can be found in the
document above. However the outcome of this consultation was
largely superseded by events. In June 2008 the government changed
the way that it wanted Core Strategies to be produced.
Counsel opinion was sought over whether to take the existing Core
Strategy forward for submission or to start again taking into
consideration all the legislative changes. This led to the
council redrafting the Core Strategy. The new Draft Core
Strategy was published in June 2009 and following consultation
on this document a final 'Pre-Submission' Core Strategy will be
produced. Further details on the Core Strategy timetable can be
found on the agreed Local Development Scheme.
In accordance with our Statement of Community Involvement in
which we have undertaken to publish all comments received, the
document includes all the comments made. However as we were
unable to take the documents forward we have not provided our usual
detailed response. As there are such a large number of
representations the tables exclude those individuals who confirmed
their support or made an objection but did not make a comment.
