Summary
This Statement of Community Involvement (
SCI
) sets out the
Council’s vision and strategy for involving the community in the
production of planning documents and in decisions on planning
applications as required under the provisions of the Planning and
Compulsory Purchase Act 2004.
In preparing this document the Council first carried out an
informal consultation (Regulation 25) with key stakeholders and the
wider community. The responses were used to inform the production
of a draft
SCI
which was subject
to another round of consultation (Regulation 26) to begin to build
a list of interested groups and individuals to contact in future
consultations.
The
SCI
was then submitted
to the Secretary of State for independent examination and underwent
a further six week period of formal consultation. The SCI was
finally agreed by the Council and adopted on 18 October 2006. A
diagram setting out the process of preparing an
SCI
is set out
below.
